A Leader in the Field

JusticeUsually, when Farther Foundation awards a scholarship, it supports a student to engage in a first time educational travel opportunity. With Justice, we have taken another approach.

Justice has been an active participant with Project Exploration’s Junior Paleontologist program for a few years now where he is learning about paleontology in the classroom and in the field while also receiving ongoing mentoring and extracurricular support throughout the year. Justice and Project Exploration submitted a scholarship application to Farther Foundation seeking support that would allow Justice to go into the field again this summer but not just as a regular participant, but as a team leader.

At Farther Foundation, it is our hope and our experience that educational travel opportunities lead students to develop confidence and leadership capacities. We are excited to be a part of Justice’s summer, we know that he will become a better leader and a more engaged student from his experience and that the younger students on his team will benefit from his example.

You can follow Justice’s experiences throughout the summer on the Project Exploration blog.
