For students entering 11th or 12th grade in fall 2010. The Barcelona Experience is a program in which students examine the history, art, and urban development of Barcelona, Spain, enriching their understanding of how European communities develop local, regional, national, and international identities. Prior knowledge of Spanish is not required. A pre-college summer study-abroad program for students entering grade 11 or 12 in fall 2010, organized in collaboration with King's Academy in Jordan and facilitated by the Columbia University Middle East Research Center in Amman. A new program combines study at Columbia University in New York City with study abroad at King's Academy, in Manja, Jordan. The program offers a unique chance to combine substantive reading and classroom work at Columbia and at the prestigious King's Academy with field trips to several extraordinary historical sites in the Middle East.
